Golf HutSMALLR.JPG (789 bytes) vs the Major Franchises

Anyone buying one of the nationally known franchised stores has the advantage of instant credibility.  The buying public will know what kind of merchandise the store has to offer before ever going into the place.

New independent stores, or franchises the size of a Golf HutSMALLR.JPG (789 bytes) store, do not have that advantage.  The public will not know what to expect and we have to earn our credibility.  Because of that, gross sales will start out slower and go upward provided the owner/operator has what it takes to build the business.

Major Franchised stores deal only with name brand equipment and because of that, will have a much larger investment in inventory.  The stores will be larger and so will the overhead.

Golf HutSMALLR.JPG (789 bytes) stores are one man operations much of the time with help required during the busy hours.  With a smaller inventory, it is not cost effective or even possible to stock all of the name brands.   We deal more with name brands that are just as good but with a much higher markup possible than the premium brands.  We also specialize in custom fitting, custom brands, and repairs.

Major Franchised stores usually deal with only new merchandise.  They may or may not have a swing analyzer and may or may not give lessons on the premises.  Because of the larger volume of traffic through the store, the service can be somewhat impersonal.

We believe that the major franchised stores and the on-course pro shops occupy the same territory in the sales spectrum.  The pro shops just have less inventory and tend to charge more.   There is plenty of room out there for Golf HutSMALLR.JPG (789 bytes) Stores and we believe we can co-exist since we are not competing for the same sales dollars.
